About Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida, the largest of the three Nusa Islands at 81 square miles (209 square kilometers), is characterized by dramatic limestone cliffs and iconic beaches. The island gained international fame for its distinctive coastal formations, including Kelingking Beach (T-Rex Bay) and Angel's Billabong. It serves as a sanctuary for the endangered Bali Starling and maintains important Hindu temples, including Pura Goa Giri Putri, built within a limestone cave. Traditional farming and fishing communities coexist with growing tourism, while efforts to preserve the island's unique marine ecosystem, particularly its manta ray population, continue to be prioritized.
