Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (IATA: CGK, ICAO: WIII) is the main airport serving the Greater Jakarta area in Indonesia. Located in Tangerang, Banten, approximately 20 kilometers northwest of central Jakarta.
The airport is named after Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, Indonesia's first president and vice president. It began operations in 1985, replacing the former Kemayoran Airport in Central Jakarta.
The airport features three passenger terminals: - Terminal 1 (domestic flights) - Terminal 2 (domestic and international flights) - Terminal 3 (domestic and international flights)
In terms of capacity, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the largest airport in Southeast Asia and one of the busiest in the world. The airport handled over 60 million passengers in 2019, making it the 17th busiest airport worldwide.
The airport serves as the main hub for several Indonesian airlines, including: - Garuda Indonesia - Lion Air - Batik Air - Citilink
The facility includes two parallel runways: - Runway 1: 3,660 meters - Runway 2: 3,660 meters
The airport is connected to central Jakarta via several transportation options, including the Airport Rail Link which opened in 2017, providing direct train service to Jakarta's city center.
