The Horn of Africa, also known as the Somali Peninsula, is a large peninsula and geopolitical region in East Africa. Located in the easternmost part of the African mainland, it is the fourth largest peninsula in the world. It comprises Somalia (including the de facto independent Somaliland and Puntland), Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, also sometimes partially including parts of Kenya and Sudan. The region is bordered to the north by the southern boundary of the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden, to the east and south by the Indian Ocean, it also shares a common maritime border with the Arabian Peninsula.

Major and principal cities in the Horn of Africa include Addis Ababa, Asmara, Djibouti, Hargeisa, and Mogadishu.
