Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the main international gateway to the Philippines, located in Metro Manila. The airport serves the Greater Manila Area and nearby provinces.
It was established in 1948 and was originally named Manila International Airport. In 1987, it was renamed to honor the assassinated opposition leader Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., who was killed at the airport in 1983.
The airport complex consists of four terminals and handles both domestic and international flights. NAIA's IATA code is MNL, and its ICAO code is RPLL.
As of 2019, it handled over 47 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in Southeast Asia. The airport serves as the main hub for Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and other domestic carriers.
