About Boracay Island

Boracay is an island located in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines. It is situated approximately 315 kilometers south of Manila and is part of the municipality of Malay in Aklan Province.

The island has a total land area of 10.32 square kilometers and is divided into three administrative districts called "barangays": Yapak in the north, Balabag in the middle, and Manoc-Manoc in the south.

Boracay is internationally renowned for its White Beach, a 4-kilometer stretch of white sand on the western coast. The beach is divided into three sections, known as Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.

The island experiences two distinct seasons: Amihan (northeast monsoon) from November to April, and Habagat (southwest monsoon) from May to October. The average temperature ranges from 26°C to 32°C (78.8°F to 89.6°F).

Tourism is the primary economic activity on the island. In 2018, Boracay underwent a six-month rehabilitation period to address environmental concerns. Following this, strict regulations were implemented to maintain sustainable tourism practices.

The island is accessible via Caticlan Airport (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) and Kalibo International Airport, followed by a short boat ride. The main mode of transportation on the island is electric tricycles.

Boracay's economy is primarily based on tourism, with over 2 million tourists visiting annually before the COVID-19 pandemic. The island is also known for water sports activities including windsurfing, kiteboarding, scuba diving, and snorkeling.
