About Basilan Island

Basilan is the largest and northernmost island in the Sulu Archipelago of the Philippines, covering an area of 512 square miles (1,327 square kilometers). The island serves as home to predominantly Muslim communities and is known for its rubber plantations and diverse tropical fruit production. The main urban center, Isabela City, although geographically part of Basilan, is administratively separate from Basilan province.
