About Tagbilaran
Tagbilaran, the capital city of Bohol province, serves as the principal gateway to the region's tourist attractions. The city's history is marked by the Blood Compact (Sandugo) between Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna in 1565, commemorated by a prominent shrine. Despite being a relatively small city, it plays a crucial role in regional commerce and education, hosting several universities and colleges. The city provides access to Bohol's famous Chocolate Hills, tarsier sanctuaries, and pristine beaches. Following the devastating 2013 earthquake, Tagbilaran has undergone significant reconstruction while preserving its historical heritage.
