About Cebu City
Cebu City, the oldest city in the Philippines, is known as the "Queen City of the South" and serves as the main economic hub of the Central Visayas. Founded in 1565 by Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi, the city houses significant historical landmarks including Magellan's Cross and the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, the country's oldest Roman Catholic church. The city celebrates the grand Sinulog Festival every January, attracting millions of visitors. As a major business center, Cebu City hosts numerous IT parks and call centers, making it one of the largest business process outsourcing hubs in Asia. The city is also famous for its lechon (roasted pig), dried mangoes, and guitar-making industry.
