About Basey

Basey, located in Samar province, is famous for its traditional handicraft industry, particularly the weaving of banig (sleeping mats) made from tikog grass. The town features the impressive Sohoton Natural Bridge National Park, known for its limestone formations and underground river system. Historical churches, including the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church built in 1656, showcase Spanish colonial architecture. The town's coastal location makes it vulnerable to typhoons, as evidenced during Typhoon Haiyan, but it has shown remarkable resilience in recovery efforts.
