Tokyo, officially known as Tokyo Metropolis, is the capital and most populous metropolitan area of Japan. Located on the eastern coast of Honshu, the largest island of Japan, Tokyo serves as the country's political, economic, and cultural center. The city is situated in the Kantō region and encompasses 23 special wards, 26 cities, 5 towns, and 8 villages, covering an area of approximately 2,194 square kilometers.
