About Marunouchi

Marunouchi constitutes Tokyo's primary business district, located between the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station. The area serves as headquarters for numerous major Japanese corporations and multinational companies. Tokyo Station, the district's centerpiece, functions as the main railway terminal for the Tokaido Shinkansen and multiple JR lines, making it one of Japan's most important transportation hubs.

The district underwent significant redevelopment in the early 2000s, transforming from a purely business area into a mixed-use zone. Marunouchi Building and Shin-Marunouchi Building house shopping centers, restaurants, and offices. Tokyo International Forum serves as a major convention and cultural center with distinctive glass architecture.

Imperial Palace East Gardens provides green space adjacent to the business district. The area features underground shopping networks connecting major buildings. Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum displays European art in a reconstructed historical building, adding cultural dimension to the primarily commercial district.
