This map shows restrooms, taxi, bus, kids play area, bicycle parking lots, Mandai shuttle, car park, restaurants, points of interest and attractions in Mandai Wildlife Reserve (Singapore).
The Mandai Wildlife Reserve is Singapore's premier nature and wildlife destination, located in the northern region of the island. This expansive complex encompasses several world-renowned attractions, including the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders (formerly River Safari), and Bird Paradise (formerly Jurong Bird Park, which relocated to Mandai in 2023).
Established through ongoing development since the 1970s, the reserve spans approximately 126 hectares and houses over 15,000 animals representing more than 1,000 species. The Singapore Zoo, opened in 1973, pioneered the "open concept" design, where animals are kept in spacious, naturalistic enclosures separated from visitors by hidden barriers, moats, and glass panels.
The Night Safari, launched in 1994, holds the distinction of being the world's first nocturnal wildlife park. It features over 900 animals from 100 species, allowing visitors to observe nocturnal creatures in their active state through specialized lighting techniques that simulate moonlight.
River Wonders showcases aquatic and terrestrial animals from the world's most iconic rivers, including the Amazon River and Yangtze River. It's home to the largest freshwater aquarium in Asia and houses endangered species like the giant panda and manatee.
The reserve emphasizes conservation, education, and research, participating in numerous international breeding programs for endangered species. The facility operates under sustainable practices and maintains various environmental initiatives, including a wildlife healthcare and research center.
