This map shows towns, villages, national parks, roads and beaches on Virgin Gorda.
Virgin Gorda Island is the third-largest island in the British Virgin Islands, covering approximately 8 square miles (21 square kilometers). The island's most famous attraction is The Baths, a unique geological formation consisting of giant granite boulders forming scenic grottoes and pools by the beach.
The island's highest point is Gorda Peak at 1,370 feet (418 meters). The main town is Spanish Town, which serves as the commercial center and features a small airport. Virgin Gorda's economy is primarily based on tourism, with several luxury resorts and yacht harbors.
The island's name, given by Christopher Columbus, means "Fat Virgin" in Spanish, as the island's profile on the horizon resembles a reclining woman. The northern part of the island is home to the exclusive Oil Nut Bay resort, while the western end features the popular Little Dix Bay.
