About Public Transport in Downtown Seattle

Downtown Seattle is served by an extensive public transportation network including buses, light rail, streetcars, and water taxis. The Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel, now exclusively used by Link light rail, runs beneath Third Avenue and Pine Street. Multiple bus routes operated by King County Metro and Sound Transit serve the downtown core, with Third Avenue designated as a transit-only corridor during peak hours.

The Link light rail system operates through downtown Seattle with stations at Westlake, University Street, Pioneer Square, and International District/Chinatown. These stations provide connections to various bus routes and other transit services. Sound Transit Express buses also serve downtown Seattle, providing regional connections to suburbs and nearby cities. The Pacific Place and Westlake Center areas serve as major transfer points for multiple transit services.
