These two cities form the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, where approximately 75% of Alberta's population resides.

Red Deer lies between Calgary and Edmonton with a population of approximately 100,000 people. Lethbridge, located in southern Alberta near the U.S. border, has around 98,000 residents. Other significant cities include Medicine Hat in the southeast, Grande Prairie in the northwest, Airdrie north of Calgary, and St. Albert adjacent to Edmonton.

The province's geography varies considerably from the Rocky Mountains along the western border, where Mount Columbia reaches 3,747 meters, to the flat prairies in the east and boreal forests in the north. Alberta contains 17 cities with official city status and 108 towns.
