About Terminal C

Terminal C is one of three passenger terminals at Newark Liberty International Airport, located in Newark, New Jersey. Opened in 1988, the terminal serves as a major hub for United Airlines and handles both domestic and international flights.

The terminal features three concourses designated as C1, C2, and C3, connected by the AirTrain Newark automated people mover system. Terminal C spans approximately 1.5 million square feet and contains 54 gates total. Concourse C1 primarily handles domestic flights, while C2 and C3 accommodate both domestic and international operations. The terminal underwent a significant $2.7 billion renovation project that began in 2018, aimed at modernizing facilities and improving passenger experience.

United Airlines operates its largest hub from Terminal C, with the facility handling over 20 million passengers annually. The terminal offers various amenities including restaurants, retail shops, business lounges, and free Wi-Fi throughout. Immigration and customs facilities are located in the terminal to process international arrivals.

Terminal C connects to the airport's central parking garage and rental car facilities via covered walkways. The AirTrain system provides transportation to other terminals, parking areas, and connects to New Jersey Transit and Amtrak services at the Newark Liberty International Airport station. Ground transportation options include taxis, ride-sharing services, and bus connections to New York City.
