Cincinnati is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Hamilton County. Located in the southwestern corner of the state along the Ohio River, it forms the border with Kentucky to the south. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 309,317, making it the third-largest city in Ohio after Columbus and Cleveland.

The Cincinnati metropolitan area, which extends into Kentucky and Indiana, had an estimated population of about 2.26 million, ranking it among the thirty largest metropolitan areas in the United States.

Cincinnati was founded in 1788 and incorporated as a city in 1819. Its early growth was driven by its position on the Ohio River, which made it a key port for steamboat traffic and trade during the first half of the 19th century. By the 1850s it was one of the largest cities in the country and a major center of industry and commerce in the American Midwest. During this period it acquired the nickname the "Queen City." Large-scale German immigration shaped much of the city's culture, and the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood remains known for its extensive collection of 19th-century Italianate architecture.

The city became a center of meatpacking, earning the nickname "Porkopolis," and later developed a diverse economy. Today the region is home to several Fortune 500 companies, including Procter & Gamble, Kroger, and Fifth Third Bancorp.

Cincinnati is governed by a mayor and a nine-member city council. The city is served by the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which is located across the river in Kentucky.

The University of Cincinnati, founded in 1819, is a major public research university and one of the city's largest employers. Cincinnati is also home to professional sports teams, including the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball—one of the oldest professional franchises in the sport—and the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. Cultural institutions in the city include the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, which opened in 1875 and is one of the oldest zoos in the United States.

The city experiences a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters.
