Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (IATA: CVG, ICAO: KCVG) is a public international airport located in Hebron, Kentucky, United States. The airport serves the Cincinnati metropolitan area and is situated approximately 13 miles southwest of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

Despite its name referencing Cincinnati, the airport is actually located entirely in Kentucky, specifically in Boone County. It covers approximately 7,700 acres of land and serves as a major cargo hub for the region.

The airport opened on June 16, 1947, originally known as Greater Cincinnati Airport. It was constructed to replace Lunken Airport, which had become inadequate for the region's growing aviation needs. The facility was renamed Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in 1948 to reflect its service to both Ohio and Kentucky communities.

Delta Air Lines established a major hub at CVG in 1984, which significantly expanded the airport's operations and passenger traffic. At its peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the airport handled over 20 million passengers annually and served more than 130 destinations. However, Delta began reducing its operations at CVG in the mid-2000s, and the hub was officially de-hubbed in 2009.

The airport currently operates three runways. The longest runway, 18R/36L, extends 11,000 feet and can accommodate large wide-body aircraft. The parallel runway 18L/36R measures 10,000 feet, while the crosswind runway 09/27 is 8,000 feet in length.

CVG features a single passenger terminal building divided into two concourses: Concourse A and Concourse B. Concourse A serves domestic flights, while Concourse B handles both domestic and international operations. The airport completed a significant terminal modernization project in 2015, updating facilities and improving passenger amenities.

The airport serves as a major cargo facility, particularly for Amazon Air and DHL Aviation. DHL operates its primary North American hub at CVG, making it one of the largest express shipping facilities in the United States. Amazon established its Prime Air hub at the airport in 2017, with a massive 800,000-square-foot sorting facility.

In terms of passenger traffic, CVG currently handles approximately 9 million passengers annually. Major airlines operating at the airport include Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Spirit Airlines. International destinations are served by carriers such as Air Canada and seasonal charter services.

The airport is governed by the Kenton County Airport Board, which oversees operations, development, and financial management of the facility.

CVG has received recognition for its efficiency and customer service. It consistently ranks highly in airport satisfaction surveys and has won multiple awards for its operations and maintenance standards.
