The University of Cincinnati (UC) is a public research university located in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1819 as Cincinnati College, it is the second-oldest institution of higher education in Ohio and one of the oldest public universities in the United States.

The university became a municipal institution in 1870 and joined the state university system of Ohio in 1977. It currently operates as a state-supported institution under the University System of Ohio.

UC's main campus spans approximately 137 acres in the Heights and Clifton neighborhoods of Cincinnati, just north of downtown.
