How to get to Montreux

Getting to Montreux is relatively straightforward, as it is well-connected by various modes of transportation:

By Air:

The nearest major airport is Geneva International Airport (GVA), which is approximately 90 kilometers (about 56 miles) from Montreux. From the airport, you can take a direct train to Montreux, which takes around 1.5 hours.

By Train:

Switzerland has an efficient and reliable train system. Montreux is accessible via the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). There are frequent trains from major Swiss cities like Geneva, Lausanne, and Zurich. The journey from Lausanne to Montreux takes about 20 minutes, while from Zurich, it takes approximately 2.5 hours.

By Car:

Montreux is accessible via the A9 motorway. If you're driving from Geneva, the journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic. There are several parking options in Montreux, but be aware that parking can be limited, especially during peak tourist seasons.

By Bus:

Long-distance buses and local bus services also connect Montreux with other towns and cities in Switzerland. The local public transport system, operated by VMCV, provides bus services within Montreux and to neighboring areas.

By Boat:

During the warmer months, you can also reach Montreux by boat via Lake Geneva. The Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le lac Léman (CGN) operates regular boat services that connect Montreux with other lakeside towns, providing a scenic and relaxing travel option.
