About Canton of Vaud

Canton of Vaud is located in western Switzerland, bordered by the canton of Geneva to the west, Neuchâtel to the northwest, Fribourg to the north, Bern to the northeast, Valais to the southeast, and France to the south and southwest. The capital of Vaud is Lausanne, a vibrant city known for its cultural scene and as the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee.

Vaud covers an area of about 1,240 square miles (3,212 square kilometers) and has a population of 845,870[1]. The canton is divided into 10 districts, each with its unique attractions. Other significant towns include Montreux, famous for its annual jazz festival and beautiful lakeside promenade, and Nyon, known for its Roman history. French is the official language of Vaud. Established in 1803, the canton is known for its diverse landscapes, including the shores of Lake Geneva and the Jura Mountains, which provide numerous opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and wine tasting in its renowned vineyards.
