Canton of Obwalden is located in central Switzerland, bordered by the cantons of Lucerne to the north, Nidwalden to the east, Bern to the west, and Uri to the south. The capital is Sarnen, known for its picturesque setting and historical sites.

Other key towns include Engelberg, a popular ski resort, and Kerns. Obwalden covers an area of about 189 square miles (490 square kilometers) and has a population of 39,272[1]. The canton is divided into 7 municipalities. German is the official language.
