Canton of Nidwalden is a small canton located in central Switzerland, bordered by the cantons of Obwalden to the west, Lucerne to the north, Schwyz to the east, and Uri to the south. The capital is Stans, known for its historical buildings and local culture.

Other important towns include Hergiswil and Ennetbürgen. Nidwalden covers an area of about 107 square miles (276 square kilometers) and has a population of 45,016[1].
