About Canton of Jura
Canton of Jura is located in the northwest of Switzerland, bordered by the cantons of Bern to the southeast, Basel-Landschaft to the east, and Solothurn to the south, as well as France to the west and north. The capital is Delémont, known for its medieval old town.
Other important towns include Porrentruy and Saignelégier. Jura covers an area of about 323 square miles (838 square kilometers) and has a population of approximately 74,548[1]. It is divided into 3 districts. French is the official language. Established in 1979, Jura is the youngest Swiss canton and is known for its rugged landscapes, including the Jura Mountains and the Doubs River. The canton is also home to Lake Biel, which is partially located within its borders.
