Fort Canning Park is a historic hilltop landmark in central Singapore covering 18 hectares. Originally known as Bukit Larangan (Forbidden Hill), it served as the site of ancient Malay palaces and later as a British military base. The park features multiple historical landmarks including Fort Gate, Nine-Pound Battery, and the Battle Box - an underground command center from WWII. The park also houses the Spice Garden, replicating Raffles' first experimental botanical garden, and Fort Canning Centre, which hosts various cultural events and exhibitions. Archaeological excavations have uncovered artifacts dating back to the 14th century, making it one of Singapore's most significant historical sites.
