Kampong Glam Map
Description:
This map shows hotels, restrooms, restaurants, cafes, shops, museums and points of interest in Kampong Glam (Singapore).
Kampong Glam is Singapore's historic Muslim Quarter, designated as a conservation area in 1989. This culturally rich district was originally allocated by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1822 for the Malay and Arab communities.
At the heart of the district stands the magnificent Sultan Mosque, built in 1824. The area is also home to the Malay Heritage Centre, housed in the restored Istana Kampong Glam, which was once the royal palace of Malay sultans. These landmarks preserve the area's rich historical and cultural heritage.
Modern Kampong Glam has evolved into a vibrant lifestyle destination while maintaining its traditional charm. The district features a mix of traditional shops selling textiles, Persian carpets, and Muslim religious items, alongside contemporary boutiques and Middle Eastern restaurants. Popular streets include Arab Street, Baghdad Street, and the trendy Haji Lane, known for its colorful murals, indie boutiques, and cafes. The area is particularly bustling during Ramadan when special bazaars and food stalls line the streets.
