About Terminal 3

Terminal 3 is the primary international terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India. Opened in July 2010, it was constructed as part of a major airport modernization project ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The terminal was designed by a consortium including Mott MacDonald and covers approximately 5.4 million square feet, making it one of the largest airport terminals in the world.

The facility handles both international and domestic flights, serving as the main hub for Air India and Vistara. Terminal 3 features 78 aerobridges and can accommodate up to 40 million passengers annually. The terminal operates 24 hours a day and houses over 170 check-in counters across multiple levels.

Architecturally, the terminal incorporates traditional Indian design elements with modern functionality. The roof structure features a distinctive wave-like design with extensive use of natural lighting. Terminal 3 includes numerous retail outlets, restaurants, and duty-free shops spanning approximately 76,000 square meters of commercial space.

The terminal is connected to Delhi's transportation network through the Airport Express Line of the Delhi Metro, which began operations in 2011. Additionally, it provides various ground transportation options including taxis, buses, and car rental services. Terminal 3 has received several international awards for its design and operational efficiency since its opening.
