About Hoorn Islands
The Hoorn Islands (also known as the Futuna Islands) are a group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean, comprising Futuna and Alofi. They are part of the French territory of Wallis and Futuna. The islands were discovered by Dutch navigators Jacob Le Maire and Willem Schouten in 1616, who named them after their hometown of Hoorn in the Netherlands. The islands are volcanic in origin and characterized by steep coastlines and mountainous terrain.
