About Alofi Island
Alofi Island is an uninhabited island in the Hoorn Islands group, located southeast of Futuna. It covers an area of 32 square kilometers and reaches a maximum elevation of 417 meters at Mount Kolofau. The island was previously inhabited but was abandoned in the 19th century due to raids from Samoa. Today, residents from nearby Futuna use Alofi for farming and fishing activities. The island is covered in dense tropical vegetation and is surrounded by coral reefs. It serves as an important nesting site for several species of seabirds.
