About Pierce Transit System

Pierce Transit is the public transportation agency serving Pierce County, Washington. Established in 1979, the agency provides bus service, paratransit, and vanpool programs throughout much of the county.

The system operates approximately 40 fixed bus routes covering an area of about 287 square miles. Service areas include Tacoma, Lakewood, University Place, Puyallup, Sumner, Fife, and other communities. Pierce Transit headquarters and main operations facility are located in Tacoma. The agency operates a fleet of over 200 buses.

Pierce Transit provides SHUTTLE paratransit service for individuals with disabilities who cannot use fixed-route buses. The vanpool program facilitates commuter ridesharing with subsidized van leases for groups.
