Syria Physical Map

Description:
This map shows cities, towns, roads and landforms in Syria.

Syria is located in Western Asia, bordering the Mediterranean Sea between Lebanon and Turkey. The country covers an area of 185,180 square kilometers, making it the 89th largest country in the world.

The physical landscape of Syria is characterized by diverse geographical features. The western part includes the narrow coastal plain along the Mediterranean Sea and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains. The central region consists of plains and plateaus, while the eastern part extends into the Syrian Desert. The Jabal al-Druze mountain range dominates the southern region, with its highest peak reaching 1,803 meters.

Major geographical features include the Euphrates River, which flows through eastern Syria, and the Orontes River in the west. The Syrian Coastal Range runs parallel to the Mediterranean coast, creating a natural barrier between the coastal region and the interior. The northern border area contains parts of the Taurus Mountains, shared with Turkey.

The country's elevation ranges from 2,814 meters at Mount Hermon on the Lebanese border to 200 meters below sea level at the shoreline of Lake Tiberias. The central region includes fertile plains around the cities of Homs and Hama, which historically have been significant agricultural areas.
