Description:
This map shows governmental boundaries of countries, provinces and provinces capitals, cities, towns, main roads, secondary roads, tracks, railroads and airports.

Somalia is located in the Horn of Africa, bordering Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, and Kenya to the southwest. The country has a coastline of 3,025 kilometers along the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden.

The Federal Republic of Somalia consists of six member states: Puntland, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, South West, Jubaland, and Banadir. The capital city, Mogadishu, is located in the Banadir region and serves as the seat of the federal government.

Since 1991, Somaliland, a self-declared state in the northwestern region, has maintained de facto independence, though it lacks international recognition. This territory roughly corresponds to the former British Somaliland protectorate. The region has its own government, currency, and military, with Hargeisa serving as its capital city.

The current political structure of Somalia is based on the Provisional Constitution, adopted in 2012, which established the country as a federal parliamentary republic. The federal system was implemented to address the complex clan-based politics and regional autonomy demands that have historically characterized Somali governance.
