Lake Bled is a glacial lake located in northwestern Slovenia, situated in the Julian Alps. The lake surrounds Bled Island, the only natural island in Slovenia. The lake's area is 144 acres (0.58 square kilometers), with a maximum depth of 97 feet (29.5 meters).

The lake's main attraction is Bled Island, which features the iconic Church of the Mother of God built in the 15th century. Visitors can reach the island via traditional wooden boats called "pletna." The church contains a famous wishing bell, installed in 1534, which according to legend brings good luck to those who ring it.

Overlooking the lake is the medieval Bled Castle, perched on a steep cliff 130 meters above the lake. Built in 1011, it is one of the oldest castles in Slovenia and represents the oldest castle in the country. The castle features a museum, printing works, wine cellar, and a restaurant with panoramic views.

The lake's water is remarkably clear and maintains a moderate temperature, reaching up to 26°C (79°F) in summer, making it suitable for swimming. Due to its scenic beauty and historical significance, Lake Bled has become one of Slovenia's most popular tourist destinations, attracting visitors throughout the year.
