About Estosadok

Estosadok (also known as Esto-Sadok) is a rural locality in Adlersky City District of Sochi, Krasnodar Krai, Russia. It is situated in the valley of the Mzymta River, approximately 4 kilometers from Rosa Khutor Alpine Resort and 40 kilometers from central Sochi.

The settlement was founded in 1886 by Estonian immigrants, hence its name which translates as "Estonian Garden." These settlers were attracted by the fertile land and the opportunity to establish their communities in the Russian Empire. Today, the village maintains some of its Estonian heritage through architecture and cultural elements.

Estosadok gained international prominence during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, as it served as one of the main residential areas for athletes and visitors. The village is located within the mountain cluster of Olympic venues, making it a crucial part of the Olympic infrastructure.

The locality is surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains and serves as a gateway to several major ski resorts, including Rosa Khutor, Gazprom Mountain Resort, and Gorky Gorod. The area experiences a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and warm summers, making it suitable for year-round tourism. The average annual temperature is around 10°C (50°F), while winter temperatures in the mountains can drop below freezing, providing ideal conditions for winter sports.

Modern Estosadok features numerous hotels, restaurants, and tourist facilities. The settlement is connected to other parts of Greater Sochi via the combined road and railway line that runs through the Mzymta valley. The Esto-Sadok station serves both the regular railway and the Aeroexpress train that connects the area to Sochi International Airport.
