About Les Gets

Les Gets is a commune and mountain resort located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. Situated at an elevation of 3,937 feet (1,200 meters), the village lies in the northern French Alps, approximately 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Geneva, Switzerland.

The resort is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the largest interconnected ski domains in the world, offering access to over 400 miles (650 kilometers) of ski runs across France and Switzerland. Les Gets itself provides approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) of marked pistes, with terrain suitable for all skill levels. The local ski area connects directly to the neighboring resort of Morzine.

Les Gets has retained much of its traditional Savoyard character, with many buildings featuring typical alpine architecture. The village received recognition as a Famille Plus certified resort, indicating its family-friendly facilities and services. In summer, the area transforms into a mountain biking destination, hosting UCI Mountain Bike World Cup events at the Chavannes bike park.

The Musée de la Musique Mécanique (Museum of Mechanical Music) houses a collection of over 600 antique musical instruments and mechanical music boxes. The village church, dating from the 19th century, stands in the town center. Les Gets serves approximately 1,200 permanent residents, with the population increasing significantly during winter and summer tourist seasons.
