About Terminal 3 (Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport)

Terminal 3 is one of two operating passenger terminals at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (IATA: PHX), located in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

The terminal originally opened in 1979. Following the closure of Terminal 1 in 1990 and the retirement of Terminal 2 in 2020, Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 remain the airport's two active terminals.

Between 2015 and 2019, Terminal 3 underwent a comprehensive modernization program. The project was carried out in phases and included a redesigned processor building with a new consolidated security checkpoint, an updated ticketing and check-in level, and expanded concessions. A new south concourse opened during this period, adding gates and replacing older facilities.

Terminal 3 serves several domestic carriers. Airlines operating from the terminal have included Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and others, while American Airlines and Southwest Airlines operate primarily from Terminal 4.

The terminal is connected to the rest of the airport by the PHX Sky Train, an automated people mover that links Terminal 3, Terminal 4, parking areas, and the regional light rail system.
