Bellingham is the county seat and most populous city in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. Located in the northwestern corner of the contiguous United States, approximately 90 miles north of Seattle and 20 miles south of the U.S.-Canada border, Bellingham had a population of 91,482 as of the 2020 census.

The city is situated on Bellingham Bay and is flanked by the North Cascades to the east and the San Juan Islands archipelago to the west. Bellingham was formed in 1903 through the consolidation of four towns: Bellingham, Whatcom, Sehome, and Fairhaven. The area's economy historically relied on logging, fishing, and coal mining.

Western Washington University, founded in 1893, is located in Bellingham and serves as a major employer and cultural center for the region. The city's modern economy includes education, healthcare, tourism, and light manufacturing. The Port of Bellingham operates marine facilities and supports maritime commerce.

Bellingham covers approximately 30.5 square miles. The city experiences a mild oceanic climate and serves as a gateway to outdoor recreation in the North Cascades National Park and the San Juan Islands. It is also a departure point for the Alaska Marine Highway System ferry service.
