Slovenia Physical Map
Description:
This map shows cities, towns, highways, main roads, secondary roads, railroads, seaports, airports, mountains and landforms in Slovenia.
Slovenia is located in Central Europe, bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, and Croatia to the south. The country covers an area of 20,273 square kilometers.
The terrain of Slovenia is predominantly mountainous, with about 90% of its surface above 300 meters altitude. The northern part is dominated by the Julian Alps, Karavanke, and Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The highest peak is Mount Triglav, reaching 2,864 meters (9,396 feet) in the Julian Alps. The central region features numerous plateaus and valleys, while the eastern part transitions into the Pannonian Plain.
The country's landscape is characterized by extensive karst formations, particularly in its southwestern regions. The Slovenian coastline, though only 46.6 kilometers long, provides access to the Adriatic Sea. Major rivers include the Sava, Drava, and Mura, all part of the Danube River Basin. The Ljubljanica River flows through the capital city Ljubljana.
Slovenia's diverse terrain creates distinct climatic zones: Mediterranean climate along the coast, continental climate in the northeast, and alpine climate in the mountainous regions.
