About Silhouette
Silhouette Island is the third largest granitic island in the Seychelles archipelago, located 20 kilometers northwest of Mahé. With an area of 20 square kilometers, it is characterized by its dramatic mountain landscape, dominated by Mount Dauban, which reaches a height of 740 meters.
The island is largely uninhabited, with a population of less than 150 people, primarily consisting of hotel staff and conservation workers. More than 93% of Silhouette is designated as the Silhouette National Park, established in 2010. This protected area harbors several endemic species, including the Seychelles sheath-tailed bat and the Seychelles giant millipede.
La Passe village, situated on the eastern coast, serves as the main settlement and entry point to the island. The historic Dauban Plantation House, built in 1860, stands as a reminder of the island's plantation era when vanilla, coconuts, and cinnamon were cultivated.
The island features several pristine beaches, with Grand Barbe and Anse Mondon being among the most scenic. Access to Silhouette is primarily via boat from Mahé, though a helicopter service is also available. The island's only resort, Hilton Seychelles Labriz Resort & Spa, operates as the main accommodation facility.
