The Seychelles is an archipelagic country located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 1,500 miles east of mainland Africa. It consists of 115 granite and coral islands, with Mahé being the largest and most populated. The nation gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1976 and became a sovereign republic.

The Seychelles boasts a unique ecosystem with numerous endemic species, including the Aldabra giant tortoise and the rare black parrot. The islands feature pristine beaches with distinctive granite formations, particularly at Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue island, often considered one of the most photographed beaches worldwide.

The country's economy primarily relies on tourism and fishing. The Seychelles experiences a tropical climate with temperatures ranging between 75°F and 85°F year-round. The official languages are English, French, and Seychellois Creole. Victoria, located on Mahé island, serves as the capital and is one of the smallest capital cities in the world.
