About Cancún Airport
Cancún International Airport (IATA: CUN, ICAO: MMUN) is Mexico's second-busiest airport and the primary gateway to the Yucatán Peninsula's resort destinations. Located approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown Cancún in Quintana Roo, the airport serves as a major hub for both domestic and international tourism.
The facility operates four terminals. Terminal 1 handles primarily domestic flights, while Terminal 2 serves international carriers including major U.S. airlines. Terminal 3, the largest and most modern, accommodates wide-body aircraft and processes the majority of international traffic. Terminal 4 opened in 2017 to handle additional capacity.
In 2023, Cancún International Airport processed over 31 million passengers, making it the busiest airport in Mexico and one of the top airports in Latin America by passenger volume.
The airport features two parallel runways: the primary Runway 12L/30R measuring 10,827 feet, and Runway 12R/30L at 11,155 feet. These runways can accommodate aircraft up to Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 specifications. The airport operates 24 hours daily and maintains customs facilities for international arrivals.
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) manages the airport under a government concession. Major airlines operating from Cancún include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Volaris, and Interjet, connecting the destination to over 100 cities worldwide.
