About Rangiroa
Rangiroa is the largest atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago and one of the largest in the world, with a lagoon spanning 1,446 km2 (558 sq mi). The atoll is famous for its world-class diving, particularly in the Tiputa and Avatoru passes, where sharks, dolphins, and manta rays congregate.
The atoll's economy combines traditional pearl farming with high-end tourism. Its unique terroir produces the only wine grown in coral soil at Domaine Dominique Auroy. The population of approximately 2,600 residents is primarily concentrated in the villages of Avatoru and Tiputa.
