About Taha'a
Taha'a, known as the "Vanilla Island," shares a lagoon with Raiatea and covers 90.2 km2 (34.8 sq mi). The island produces approximately 80% of French Polynesia's vanilla, earning its nickname. Its mountainous interior rises to 590 meters (1,936 feet), creating a dramatic landscape.
The island's population of about 5,500 maintains traditional agricultural practices, particularly in vanilla cultivation and pearl farming. The surrounding lagoon features numerous coral gardens and small motus, making it popular for snorkeling and diving.
