About Maupiti
Maupiti, often called "Little Bora Bora," is the westernmost volcanic island in the Society Islands, covering 11 km2 (4.2 sq mi). The island features a central peak rising to 372 meters (1,220 feet), surrounded by a lagoon and five small motus.
The island's population of roughly 1,200 has actively chosen to limit tourism development to preserve their traditional way of life. Maupiti is known for its archaeological sites, including ancient petroglyphs and marae, as well as its pristine beaches and excellent snorkeling conditions.
