About Les Menuires
Les Menuires is a ski resort located in the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie department of the French Alps. The resort sits at an elevation ranging from 1,400 to 2,850 meters (4,593 to 9,350 feet) above sea level. It was developed in 1964 as part of France's post-war ski resort expansion program.
Les Menuires forms part of Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys), the largest connected ski area in the world, which includes neighboring resorts such as Courchevel, Méribel, and Val Thorens. The resort provides access to over 600 kilometers of marked ski runs through this interconnected system. The local ski domain of Les Menuires itself offers approximately 160 kilometers of slopes served by around 30 ski lifts.
The resort consists of several villages and hamlets spread across different altitude levels, including Les Bruyères, La Croisette, Reberty, and Preyerand. The architecture is predominantly purpose-built from the 1960s and 1970s, though recent developments have introduced more traditional Alpine-style buildings.
Les Menuires serves as a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts, offering skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing opportunities. The resort operates annually from December through April, depending on snow conditions.
