About Les Trois Vallées
Les Trois Vallées (The Three Valleys) is the largest ski area in the world, located in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps, in the Savoie department. The resort interconnects eight ski villages and covers approximately 600 kilometers of marked ski runs, supported by over 150 ski lifts. The area extends across three main valleys: the valleys of Courchevel, Méribel, and Belleville.
The ski area includes several major resorts: Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Brides-les-Bains, Orelle, and La Tania. Val Thorens, situated at an elevation of 2,300 meters, is Europe's highest ski resort. The highest accessible point in the area is the summit of Cime de Caron at 3,230 meters.
Les Trois Vallées was developed beginning in the 1970s when the separate ski areas were connected through a network of lifts and runs. The resort operates from early December through late April, with reliable snow conditions due to its high altitude. The area hosted various alpine skiing events during the 1992 Winter Olympics held in Albertville.
