New Brunswick is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada and one of the four Atlantic provinces. It is the only officially bilingual province in the country, with both English and French having equal status. The province covers an area of 72,908 square kilometers and had a population of approximately 869,682 as of 2025.

Founded in 1784, New Brunswick was named after the German city of Braunschweig (Brunswick in English), the ancestral home of King George III. The provincial capital is Fredericton, while the largest city is Moncton. The province is bordered by Quebec to the north, Nova Scotia to the east, the Gulf of Saint Lawrence to the northeast, the Bay of Fundy to the southeast, and the U.S. state of Maine to the west.

The economy is historically based on forestry, agriculture, fisheries, and mining. In recent decades, the service sector has grown significantly. New Brunswick is home to the Bay of Fundy, which has the highest tides in the world. The province has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold, snowy winters.
