Russia's European territory occupies the eastern portion of Europe, extending from the Baltic Sea to the Ural Mountains. It borders Norway and Finland to the northwest, Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, and Ukraine to the west, and Georgia and Azerbaijan to the southwest. European Russia accounts for about 25% of the country's total territory but contains approximately 75% of Russia's population, including major cities like Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
