About Ducie Island
Ducie Island is the most remote and easterly island of the Pitcairn Islands. It is an uninhabited atoll with a total area of 1.5 square kilometers (0.58 square miles). The island consists of a central lagoon surrounded by four islets: Acadia, Pandora, Westward, and Edwards.
The island is an important breeding site for several species of seabirds, including Murphy's petrels and fairy terns. The surrounding waters are known for their pristine coral reefs. Ducie was discovered in 1606 by Portuguese sailor Pedro Fernandes de Queirós, making it one of the first Pacific islands seen by European explorers.
