About Adamstown
Adamstown is the only settlement and capital of the Pitcairn Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific. With a population of approximately 40 people, it is the smallest capital city in the world.
The settlement was established in 1790 by mutineers from HMS Bounty and their Tahitian companions. Located on the central-northern side of Pitcairn Island, Adamstown sits at an elevation of 120 meters above sea level. The town consists of a few essential buildings including the Town Hall, Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the Post Office.
